The episode starts off with Arthur look at videos of his and D.W.'s first birthdays, with D.W. filming Arthur in a way to try and make him more interesting, but claims that it's hopeless. When D.W. claims that little sister is always more interesting than a brother, Arthur points out that she didn't always feel that way about Kate and reminds her of what happened when Kate first came home from the hospital.

D.W. learns that Baby Kate's will be moving into her room. The next day D.W. is helping her parents move Kate's crib into her room. D.W. tells Kate about how much fun they will have. Suddenly D.W. notices a fowl smell and holds her nose in disgust as she questions where it is coming from. Jane tells her that it is coming from Kate. As Kate is unable to use the toilet so she uses diapers instead. Arthur taunts D.W. saying that the smell will only get worse, but D.W. insists that she can handle it.
While D.W. was clearly excited about being an older sister (especially since her new sibling is a girl), she becomes frustrated when her parents won't let her help with the baby, especially since D.W. (at least in her own opinion) is a "baby expert." When Jane has to go grab something from upstairs and asks Arthur to keep an eye on Kate, Nadine tells her that this is her chance to show her mom how much of a "baby expert" she is. After Buster and Francine come over to check out the new baby, Kate soon starts crying—D.W. does her best to try and comfort her, but nothing's working. When D.W. hands Kate over to Arthur to get a clean diaper (thinking that Kate's upset because she needs her diaper changed), Arthur starts patting Kate on the back, which helps Kate burp (the real reason she was crying). When Jane comes into see what all the commotion was about, Buster explains what happened and everyone's happy that Arthur and Kate have finally bonded--everyone except D.W. that is.
That night D.W. is kept awake by Kate's crying due to her needing a new diaper.

The following day Jane is changing Kate's diaper. D.W. notices this and is disgusted by the smell. D.W. states that her room stinks like a zoo and opens the window in order to clear out the smell. Jane tells her to close it, as Kate will soon catch a draft. D.W. then states that her doll has began to stink of Kate's poop filled diapers.

The following day D.W. is playing in her room. D.W. sees Kate and asks if she wants to play with her truck. D.W. then notices a bad smell and holds her nose in disgust as she calls out to her mom that Kate needs to be changed.
That night D.W. is once again kept up by Kate's incessant crying and the smell of her dirty diapers.
The following morning D.W. is unable to eat her breakfast, due to her teeth being too tired and stinky.
D.W. then takes her troubles to the Tibble Twins who pose the idea of framing Kate for bad deeds.
The next day Jane, Kate and D.W. are walking past a construction site. A building is demolished and D.W. attempts to blame Kate for it. Jane than explains that a demolition machine caused the wreckage. To which D.W. reluctantly agrees.

Arthur and D.W. are at the kitchen table. David comes in and demands to know who put his shoes in the dishwasher. D.W. insists that it was Kate. David than scolds D.W. before sending her off to her room.

Nadine appears to console D.W. and is repulsed by the smell that has consumed D.W.'s room. D.W. then says that she is unable to think of ways to get rid of Kate.

That night D.W. has a nightmare about living with Kate. D.W. is a sophomore in high schoo. She is cheering that night at the big game. Throughout the pre game warm ups, her stomach is bothering her, but she decides to help her team cheer at the game. As the game continges, the cramps begin to get wors. The cheerleaders attempt a peramid and put D.W. at the top. D.W. smiles and everyone cheers for her. A wet fart is heard throughout the stadium, and everyone falls Silent. Suddenly, D.W.’s panties begin to fill with poop. it then squelches out of D.W.‘S panties and into plain sigh. The cheerleaders supporting D.W. retract in disgust and D.W. falls to the ground. Everyone begins laughing at her. Suddenly the head cheerleader approaches with a diaper ba. She then proceeds to change D.W. as everyone holds their noses and continues to make fun of D.W.

D.W. becomes jealous when David and Jane let Arthur help with the baby but not her, though she gets excited when Kate and her crib are moved into her room. However, D.W. soon finds some drawbacks to sharing a room with her new baby sister (namely in that Kate keeps her up at night with her crying and Kate's diaper stink up their room). D.W. gets frustrated when she can't play with her sister in the same way she could play with a kid her age, because as Jane points out, D.W.'s toys have too many small pieces that they Kate could choke on, and says that she has to be extra careful around the baby. The new big sister also starts feeling jealous of the attention that Kate's getting from their parents--on advice from the Tibble Twins, D.W. tries blaming Kate for stuff that others or even herself have done, but this only gets into trouble with David and Jane. D.W. eventually goes as far as to try and sell her sister at their family's yard sale (first for 50-cents but then lowering it to 35-cents).

The next day, D.W. attempts to sell Kate to a neighbor during a yard sale. Only to be scolded by Jane and sent inside. D.W. then decides to run away feeling that her family doesn't want her anymore.
Eventually, feeling that her family doesn't need her anymore, D.W. decides to run away to a small island. After stopping at Grandma Thora's house to say goodbye, Thora offers to drive and row her granddaughter out to the island--however, during the journey to the island, Thora's able to convince D.W. to go back home by pointing out that while Kate with have a mom, a dad and an older brother to take care of her, she won't have an older sister. D.W. goes back home, her parents make a rule that she can't cross the street by herself and D.W. makes up with her sister.

D.W. goes to her grandmothers and asks if she can give her a lift to an island on the outskirts of town.

When they arrive at the island, D.W.'s grandmother posses the question of how Kate will grow up without an older sister. D.W. then realizes the error of her ways and demands that they return home.

D.W. returns home only to be greeted by a frantic Jane. D.W. then tells Kate not to worry as she will show her how to do everything. D.W. then notices a familiar drink and winces in disgust. She then stated that while big sisters are important, it's the parents that change the diapers. D.W. then calls for her mom, stating that this is Kate's stinkiest diaper to date

"D.W.'s Baby" is the second half of the eleventh episode in the first season of Arthur.

Summary[edit]

When Baby Kate was born, D.W. felt neglected and wondered if anyone would even miss her if she ran away.

Plot[edit]

The episode starts off with Arthur look at videos of his and D.W.'s first birthdays, with D.W. filming Arthur in a way to try and make him more interesting, but claims that it's hopeless. When D.W. claims that little sister is always more interesting than a brother, Arthur points out that she didn't always feel that way about Kate and reminds her of what happened when Kate first came home from the hospital.

While D.W. was clearly excited about being an older sister (especially since her new sibling is a girl), she becomes frustrated when her parents won't let her help with the baby, especially since D.W. When Jane comes into see what all the commotion was about, Buster explains what happened and everyone's happy that Arthur and Kate have finally bonded--everyone except D.W. that is.

D.W. becomes jealous when David and Jane let Arthur help with the baby but not her, though she gets excited when Kate and her crib are moved into her room.
