Norbert, who prefers to be called Bert, is a third grader who recently moved to Elwood City.
Norbert would sit with the fourth graders at lunchtime and buy his lunch instead of bringing it from home. After solving a riddle from Mr. Ratburn, Norbert joined the others in a game of soccer, scoring two goals before recess ended. After school, Norbert explained that his mother made him wear his old school's uniform, but he will not be wearing it again. He also asks Arthur and Buster to call him "Bert".
