D.W., eager to answer the phone

"Mrs. Wha-cha-ma-call-it" is Track 13 of the album Arthur's Really Rockin' Music Mix. The song is a psychedelic rock anthem performed by D.W. Read about the very first time that she took a telephone message. It also includes a spoken part from Mrs. Read. Unlike a number of other tracks on the album, though the song tells a story, it does not seem to be based on any specific events from the show.

Lyrics[edit]

[D.W.]
I forgot to tell you an important phone call
Came while you were taking a shower
I don't write but I took a message
And remembered it after three whole hours!
Mrs. Wha-cha-ma-call-it called and said you have to meet her somewhere
She said everything will be ruined if you're late
Hurry on over there!

It's my first phone message
You must be so proud of me
It's my first phone message
You must be so proud of me

She also said that her friend's kid's what's-it's-name?
Which is a girl or a boy?
Needs that thingy-ma-jiggy that you have
It's food, or shoes, or a toy

Mrs. Wha-cha-ma-call-it said if you can't call her back right away
Rush to that place on that street in some other town
Something about bales of hay?

It's my first phone message
You must be so proud of me
It's my first phone message
You must be so proud of me!

(instrumental break)

This is the very first time that I ever took a phone message alone
I'm so good at it that I may just spend all day here by your phone
(sound of phone ringing)
I'll get it!

[Mrs. Read]
(No, no, no, no, no. I'll get it.)
