"Angels We Have Heard on High" is track 20 of the album Arthur's Perfect Christmas. It is a traditional Christmas carol. It is performed by Jane Read, David Read and other caroler friends, following a brief opening with Arthur and D.W.. The song is performed with a livelier arrangement and with a faster tempo than typically heard, and also features two lively & extended instrumental breaks, though the lyrics are those of the traditional carol. The line "Gloria, In Excelsis Deo" is Latin for "Glory to God in the highest."

Lyrics[edit]

D.W.

Mom, Dad, Mom, I need...!

Arthur

Shh. D.W.! Mom and Dad are about to sing some Christmas carols.

D.W.

But I need, I need...!

Arthur

Shh. Just listen.

Mom, Dad and Fellow Carolers

Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing o'er the plains
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains

Glor-or-or-or-or-or...ia
In Excelsis Deo

Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be?
Which inspire your heavenly song?

Glor-or-or-or-or-or...ia
In Excelsis Deo

Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the angels sing
Come adore on bended knee
Christ the Lord, the newborn king

Glor-or-or-or-or-or...ia
In Excelsis Deo

See him in a manger laid
Whom the choirs of angels praise
Mary, Joseph, lend your aid
While our hearts in love we raise

Glor-or-or-or-or-or...ia
In Excelsis Deo
In Excelsis Deo
In Excelsis Deo
In Excelsis Deo.
