Arthur Goes to Camp is the fifth book in the Arthur Adventure series. It was written and illustrated by Marc Brown and published by Little, Brown and Company on April 30, 1982. It became adapted into the TV series as the first half of episode 7 in season one.

Plot

Arthur is not looking forward to Camp Meadowcroak, and decides to run away when mysterious things start happening there.

Trivia

  • This book marks the first appearance of Brain.
  • The Crosswire family portrait that includes Muffy, as well as her parents Ed and Millicent, and brother Chip can be seen on one of the pages, but Muffy's parents and brother did not make an actual appearance. Her family hasn't been shown again until the TV show, which changed their appearances, but leaving Muffy's signature hairstyle unchanged.
  • Rocky, who is the counselor for the boys, is seen in this book, but not in the others after this. Also, he never appeared in the television series.
