"Carried Away" is the first half of the fourth episode in the nineteenth season of Arthur.
Summary[edit]
Kate and Mei Lin get a chance to tour the solar system with Pal's cousin, Dr. Yowl, but Pal suspects that he is up to no good.
Plot[edit]
Arthur, Buster and Binky watch an alien movie in the Reads' living room. Arthur and Buster are scared, though they will not admit it. Suddenly, they hear strange noises from upstairs. They go to D.W.'s room, but only find Kate, Mei Lin and Pal. As soon as they have left, another dog floats down from the ceiling.
Carried Away
The dog introduces himself as Dr. Yowl, Pal's cousin from Pluto. He invites the others to a party on his home planet. Pal is skeptical, because he thinks Dr. Yowl is irresponsible, but he is convinced by a large ham the Doctor has brought. They all get into Yowl's ship, the BARCDIS.
On the way, the BARCDIS stops on Mercury. Thanks to special dog treats, they are able to walk on the hot surface. Yowl pulls out the ham to bake it.
Next, they stop on Venus, where Yowl left a ball on his last visit. He asks the girls to throw it so that the dogs can play fetch. On the second throw, the ball bounces back into the BARCDIS. Kate gets it and hears a transmission asking if Yowl has convinced the subject to leave Earth forever.
Before Kate can tell the others, Yowl takes them to Mars, where he and Pal drive the Curiosity rover like a jeep. When Pal takes a turn with Kate, she tells him that Yowl wants him to stay on Pluto. They drive back and find the BARCDIS gone.
Dr. Yowl and Mei Lin fly past Jupiter and Saturn. Yowl tells Mei Lin that it is really her that the Plutonians want to meet.
Meanwhile, Kate and Pal are stranded. They realize that Kate had accidentally taken Dr. Yowl's bone with her. With the bone, Kate summons a backup BARCDIS. Pal takes the rover with them.
Pal and Kate land on Pluto next to Yowl, Mei Lin and a group of brightly colored dogs. They explain that thanks to Pluto's low gravity, it is ideal for playing fetch, but they need someone to throw the ball for them. Kate builds a pitching machine out of the rover, for which the Plutonians are very grateful. Pal has a great time, and Kate tells him that it is okay if he wants to stay.
Later, the alien movie ends and the boys fetch Mei Lin, who is fast asleep with Kate and Pal. Pal tells Kate that Pluto had everything except for her.

Trivia[edit]
- Dr. Yowl and the Plutonian dogs appear in the browser game “Planet Pal”, while the alien from the TV show appears in the bonus level of the browser game “Tower of Cows”.
- At 8.87m/s², Venus’ gravity is actually very close to Earth's at 9.81 m/s². Pluto's, however, is only 0.62 m/s².
- Pluto's crust is mainly composed of water ice, so getting ice cubes from the rings of Saturn would be unnecessary.
- Pal mentions Dr. Yowl stealing the Thanksgiving turkey and Pal getting blamed. This is not seen in in any Thanksgiving episode.
Episode connections[edit]
- Pluto's change from planet to dwarf planet had previously been mentioned in “Bugged”.
Cultural references[edit]
- This episode is a parody of BBC'S Doctor Who.
