Lakewood Elementary School is a public elementary school that Arthur and his friends attend and, according to Elwood City Turns 100!, one of 15 schools in Elwood City. In "April 9th," the school was destroyed in a fire, sending all the students to their rival school, Mighty Mountain, but was later restored, and sending its students back there. According to Prunella and the Haunted Locker, the school was founded in the 50s.
Description
Lakewood Elementary School is a typical Kindergarten-5th Grade school that features hallways, offices, classrooms, a cafetorium, gymnasium, restrooms, and more. The boys' restroom has counter sinks, toilet stalls, and urinals. The girls' restroom has counter sinks and toilet stalls. On the outside, there is a playground and a baseball field. There are also bicycle racks right in front of the building where Arthur and his friends park their bicycles. In the early books, the interior of the school was shown most of the time, but the exterior was shown occasionally. The front doors of the school were originally located to the far right and had a half-circle window over the doors. In the cartoon and later books, the school was redesigned, and the front doors were moved to the very center and had a canopy right in front of the doors.

Trivia
- In some of the episodes, some of the third grade students outside of Mr. Ratburn's class appear to be switched between Miss Sweetwater's and Mrs. Fink's classes and vice-versa.
- One of the unidentified students name John appeared again in the episode The Long Road Home. John had apprently sponsered George in the episode, but John for some reason isn't seen in the episode.
