It starts with Arthur getting dressed, and realizes that his socks are gone. D.W. blames him for stealing her socks, as she has lost them too. When their father came up to ask if they've seen his socks, D.W. overreacts and her father assures her there is a logical explanation. Pal has taken all the socks to the Sock Exchange Market, but the sock market has closed and crashed. Mr. Toad had bought up all the socks. After Pal and Baby Kate talked with Mr. Toad's wife Toady, Pal goes to meet him. He tries to convince Mr. Toad  to give back the socks, but Mr. Toad refuses to. Pal manages to get a sock on loan, but he must give it back in a week with 10 other socks. So Amigo, Pal, and Baby Kate come up with a plan to get Mr. Toad to give back the socks. They come up with something that Mr. Toad would like to have that he could have a lot of, which was lint. They get everyone talking about lint until Mr. Toad got interested. When Mr. Toad comes to get his sock back, along with 10 others, Pal agrees that Mr. Toad won, and said for Kate to "Pack up the lint" while Mr. Toad took over the house. After Mr. Toad hears they have lint, he wants them to give the lint. He traded all his socks for the lint, and Pal, Baby Kate, and Amigo open up the Sock Market again.

  • The "Lint Rush" is an obvious parody of a Gold rush.
  • The "Great Chilly Toes Scare of 1929" is most likely a parody of the "Red Scare" and the "Great Depression."
