Sick as a Dog is the second half of the eighteenth episode of Season 1. It first aired on January 20, 1997 along with Arthur's Chicken Pox.
Summary
Despite his parents' warnings, Arthur has been letting Pal eat a lot of things he shouldn't --- everything from stale gummie worms to a hot dog snatched from D.W.'s bun. Pal then starts looking ill and making a weird noise and ends up having to go to the vet and stay the night. Arthur is very worried, as Pal's never been away from him that long before. Worried about what's going to happen to Pal, he tries to shift the blame to D.W., convinced that she's done something after her statement that she would "teach that dog a lesson he'll never forget."

Trivia
This episode, like others shows that many Pal episodes show him in near death, or injury-based experiences. For example:
- Arthur's Lost Dog -- Pal goes up, up, and away on a string of helium-filled balloons...
- Arthur Cleans Up -- Pal chokes on discarded gum...
- Arthur and D.W. Clean Up -- Pal's almost buried alive under piles of junk in Arthur's bedroom.
Many viewers are concerned about how Arthur reacted after D.W. says "I felt the same way when my bird died". On YouTube, many viewers would comment about his reaction. It is unknown what Arthur did, maybe he was whimpering or scared thinking Pal might die.
