PLEASE HELP ME!!!

There is a user vandalising the FANDOM Arthur Wiki with inappropriate stuff such as the F-word, explatives, and sexual content. Please block him! I've told TheAtomicLight, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. I've rolling back as many of this user's edits as I can, but it's getting to be too much. Please help me and block that user! (The user's name is DaddyPigS**ks (censored))

Uhhh...

I didn't ask to have admin rights on Grifkuba. I wish you had asked me if I wanted them first, because deep down, I don't. Just because I have admin rights on FANDOM, that doesn't mean I want them here too. Rollback or Content Moderator rights would suffice for this place for me.

I've been thinking for a while about taking a "Wikibreak" from Grifkuba, and I think this might have just helped me decide to do so. I want to focus more time and effort into FANDOM, where I have a lot on my plate as it is. I'm not just an admin on Arthur Wiki on FANDOM, but I am also a bureaucrat / admin on a couple of other wikis on FANDOM as well, one of which I am attempting to consolidate with another.

I'm sure I'll come back eventually, but I want to focus more time on FANDOM. This place has been kind of splitting my attention, and personally, the lack of Badges / Achievements is less of an incentive for me to want to be here on a daily basis.

Arthur Wiki on FANDOM has been making a lot of progress lately. I revived the newsletter on there, which is now known as "The Arthur Wiki Newsletter," we're prepping for the upcoming UCP (Unified Community Platform) transition, which means our wiki will soon be upgraded to a new platform, MediaWiki 1.33, and we will also have the feeds-based Discussions enabled in the near future, which will replace the soon-to-be-discontinued Special:Forum. All those changes and many, many more for the future. This place, though? I don't feel like it has enough of a community for it to make much progress.

I also don't feel like Grifkuba is working for me. There's nothing really to do or talk about on here that can't already be done on FANDOM. I also seem to be the only really active contributor here, as I'm the only one who's contributed here on a daily basis since this site first launched back two months ago.

I don't know what else to say, other than this: I really wish you had asked me before giving me admin rights that I didn't really want here.

Usually, the user has to want the rights first, and ask for them. Or, one of the admins offers the rights to them, and they can say yes or no. That's how I eventually became a bureaucrat and admin on Big Idea Wiki on FANDOM. One of the bureaucrat / admins on there, BoyInCharge55, suggested that I would make a good admin there after I helped out with editing and reporting vandals for a while, and I took him up on his offer because I wanted the rights.

Here, though, I didn't get a chance to say yes or no. That's kind of not fair, since I didn't really want the rights here, at least, not at this point in time.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I would prefer to just remain a rollback on here for the time being. I hope you understand.

An important message

Hey, Scrooge200. This is Arthur Read fan.

Earlier today, I checked Arthur's Twitter page. I was absolutely horrified to see what I saw as the newest tweet from the page; the Arthur Fist meme. Some other people are not very happy about the newest tweet, either.

Back in 2016, WGBH themselves said that they didn't approve of that meme, and today, they made themselves hypocrites by posting a shot from that.

On FANDOM, I made sure to protect the "Arthur's Big Hit" page under lock and key so that only admins / content mods (and FANDOM staff / VSTF members) can edit the page, as a prevention against excessive spamming / vandalism. I wanted to inform you about this, because I want to protect this place from vandals as well. I also didn't really want to leave a message on your wall on FANDOM, because I didn't want to attract spammers to the thread. So, that's why I'm leaving you a message on here, where it's more private.

I'm also considering / debating removing the Arthur Twitter account as an external source on Arthur Wiki FANDOM's main page, because I don't want to give people the wrong idea. I don't want them to think that they can add that sort of information to the wiki. Why leave the door open?

I think Arthur's Facebook page is a lot more reputable / reliable, anyways, and it's also been around for a lot longer. Whenever the show releases promotional images or related media, I go for the Facebook, rather than the Twitter. Also, it seems like the Facebook page is run by a different staff than the Twitter.

What are your thoughts about this? I hope you respond back really soon, and I also hope you have a wonderful kind of day!

It's back...

Hey. Remember yesterday, when I told you about what the Arthur Twitter account posted (about the fist)? Well, today, they posted a thing called "Your guide to the best Arthur memes," or something like that, and it includes the fist meme, which I found to be quite inappropriate, and I also thought it was quite immature of them to be posting it not just once, but twice. Why are they doing this? It was bad enough yesterday, but now today, they have officially taken it too far. I'm seriously considering removing the link to the Twitter account on the main page of the Arthur Wiki on FANDOM, even if it's only temporary, but I won't unless the other admins agree. I'm just really upset and perturbed by this. I don't know what's going on with the Twitter account, because the Facebook account isn't like this. Re: Arthur social media

First of all, my apologies if I'm not writing this in the correct spot. Still adjusting myself to this new platform.

Second, all of the Arthur social media are managed by the same group of people, who I believe are at WGBH. They're handled differently, because Facebook has a very different audience than Twitter does. They also function quite differently, leading to differences between the posts from one platform to another.

Quite honestly, the fist meme is one of the tamest Arthur memes out there. I'm sure you're aware of the much more sexual, vulgar, and otherwise inappropriate memes that have been created. I believe that is what WGBH/PBS was expressing their disappointment in several years ago. Memes are part of our culture now, whether you like them or not. And as with any cultural identity, there will be some people who take certain aspects of it too far for a "general audience". Even so, the Arthur fanbase is becoming increasingly older in age as the years go by. People who grew up watching the show in the 90s now have kids themselves who now watch it. While the show's audience has always been directed at children, it has also managed to appeal to older viewers. The Arthur social media seems to be embracing the shifting audience. I won't say if that's good or bad (and regardless, that's really an irrelevant opinion), but personally I prefer this to them not acknowledging us older fans at all. The show is about ready to end in a year or two, so I predict things will be changing even more coming soon.

As for the wiki, I agree that memes and other non-canon material should be avoided here. I don't agree with removing the Arthur Twitter link, though. It is official Arthur media. The Twitter watch-party earlier tonight was dropping new information left and right, and appeared to have Greg Bailey, Marc Brown and other WGBH folks involved. I have no evidence to suggest that it's any less reliable than what's being posted to Facebook.

It's okay if you don't agree with me about wanting to remove the Arthur Twitter account link. We're all entitled to our opinions. I totally understand what you're saying and where you're coming from, but we also need to look out for the many, in other words, the visitors / users of the Arthur Wiki on FANDOM and Grifkuba. I don't really want others to think that they can go ahead and post such meme materials on here or on FANDOM. As it is, I have already fully protected the "Arthur's Big Hit" page on FANDOM, (meaning that only users with admin / content mod rights can edit it now). I did that as a means of protection against potential spammers / vandals, as well as people who try to insert the meme on the page. The Arthur Facebook account link can stay, since it has a better reputation for being more reliable, and it's also been around a lot longer than the Twitter account. Just one final note before I end this response: We still don't have a 100% sure source that says that the show is ending. I noticed the captcha has been having issues on several wikis, including here, that caused it to not display properly. I updated some of the code and it should only effect anons and new users (this wiki does not appear to have an autoconfirmed rank). Hey there.

How are things going here? I read the rest of your Season 8 Review on here recently, as well as your Season 9 Review, at least, what's there so far. In case you're wondering how I've been, I've been doing all right, I suppose.

However, there is something that I've had on my mind for a while, something about the Arthur Wiki on FANDOM.

Pretty soon, I'm going to be stepping down from my positions of rollback and admin on there, either by mid-September of this year or when I reach my 4,000th edit on there, whichever comes first. The main reason why I'm leaving there is because of stress which I feel like I can't escape from. I'll reveal some more of the reasons why I'm leaving the FANDOM Arthur Wiki in the next issue of The Arthur Wiki Newsletter, which will be the final issue on FANDOM.

Now, I'm not leaving FANDOM itself, since there are other wikis on there that I enjoy and like contributing to and being a part of. I'm just leaving the Arthur Wiki on there. However, I will still be on this Arthur Wiki (on Grifkuba), and would like to create a new newsletter on here.

I wanted to let you be the first to know about this, but I didn't want to message you on FANDOM about it and let other users know before the newsletter releases. I want it to be a surprise announcement.

Some updates

Hey there. The Patroller rank has been added upon your request. They can block users and check IP addresses, similar to how it is on the Super Mario Wiki.

Theoretically it's been updated? Special:ListGroupRights is showing Patrollers and Admins have access, but Special:BatchUpload is not displaying the proper roles. Okay, so we discovered a security flaw with the extension, that essentially nullifies any of the rankings. By using {{#batchupload}} on a page, anybody, even anons, can use the extension. It can be used even through showing a preview. While this may be pretty unknown to most everyone, it is a flaw in the coding and the extension has been disabled. Sorry.
