Uaica is the main character of The Very Magic Mango Tree.

Biography

The book starts with Uaica running from a group of bullies who tease him, when he comes across a mango tree with other forest animals who eat the mangoes and fall asleep. Uaica eats one of the mangoes and dreams of jaguar men who teach him the ways of the jaguar. Afterwards, Uaica is never teased by the bullies again.

Arthur and D.W. work together to draw and write another version of the book to help Vicita get to sleep. In their version, Uaica never gets down from the tree, causing Vicita to dream another ending of the story where he does get down. In this version, Vicita and Raulito explore the jungle to get him down. Uaica tells them that he is scared of heights, but eventually manages to climb down and eat their magic mango.
