"D.W.'s Name Game" is the first half of the nineteenth episode in the second season of Arthur.

Summary

The name-calling contest between Arthur and D.W. improves their vocabularies, but gets a little out of control.

Plot

The episode begins in a scene of D.W pouring cereal, she greets the viewers and says that Arthur is usually here at the opening of the show and then whispers she wants to talk about Arthur. As she said, "the worst big brother in the whole world", she has a flashback about Arthur being too fast when they ride bikes. She said she would be as fast as him if she was big enough, then she said she could only do that if she ate as much as Arthur. It shows a scene of Arthur eating a whole cake in one bite and says he was mean when D.W went into his room again. He puts up a sign that says "D.W is not allowed. P.S. Mary Moo Cow is a bad show". D.W says that the sign can't stop her, because she can't read. D.W. also says she's gonna get back at him soon. She then eats the cereal and spits it out because Arthur used up the last of the milk.

After the title card, she is talking with The Tibbles on how she should teach him a lesson. Tommy Tibble says that she would show up late at his concert and distract him. Then Timmy Tibble said that would be "dopey", and says she should make him her servant. Tommy said she has to hypnotize him first.

Then it goes to a scene where Catherine starts baby-sitting for Arthur and D.W. Arthur asks D.W to move her head, and when she doesn't respond he says to move her huge enormous giant gopher looking head. D.W says he looks like a football with glasses and both tell Catherine. She asks them to play and goes to do her homework. They start fighting when Arthur says D.W took his red crayon. Then they use Catherine's thesaurus to start calling each other names and Catherine hears them fighting and tells them it's bed time.

D.W has a dream where she is going through a field and then to a lake and asks Walter where to go. He says through the forest and hands her a tissue when she blows for about 10 seconds then says it would be boring to watch her go through the forest and jumps inside the library picture. Tommy and Timmy are lion statues froze by the "evil" Arthur. D.W goes inside the library and asks where "the saurus" is. She goes through lots of isles and sees the saurus as a dinosaur because of the name with "saurus" in it. He says D.W has to prove herself worthy for the perfect name to call Arthur. She must name three synonyms for silly. She says silly goofy and Arthur. He whispers the perfect name to call Arthur then melts Arthur by telling him. Arthur says you have to be careful about what you call people.

Then she wakes up when mom and dad are in her room. She sees them holding the cup Arthur melted in from the dream and yells his name.he comes into D.W.'s room and notices it's a dream. She says all the people in it, but she said mom and dad were in it when they weren't actually seen in it then the saurus peeks through D.W.'s window.

Trivia

• In this episode we see D.W. has a Mary Moo Cow cup.

Cultural references

• The story parodies the events of the film The Wizard of Oz, with Arthur cast as the Wicked Witch and the Tibble Twins appearing as lions. At the end of the story, D.W. states "I had this dream, and you were in it, and you, and you were in it too!," similar to the ending of The Wizard of Oz.

Episode connections

• This episode is similar in terms of plot to D.W., Queen of the Comeback.

Errors

• When Arthur says "You are.....vapid," he is standing in the hallway in the beginning. After he says it, he is seen in D.W.'s room and is leaving the room.
