Arthur Makes Waves is the first half of the sixth episode of Season 9. It aired on April 4th, 2005. It was written by Raye Lankford, and the storyboard was done by Patricia Atchison & Robert Yap.
Summary
The public pool is closed, but Arthur and D.W. can use James' swimming pool. Arthur discovers that James's older sister is Molly. Eventually, the two get along, but avoid each other in public because their friends won't approve. Their friends gang up on Molly to squeeze information. This ends prematurely as Francine suggest that they should go to the Sugar Bowl.
Plot
When the community pool is closed for repairs, Arthur and D.W. try to find other places to cool off. They try the Tibbles' pool, the Senior Center's Pool, and they even went to library since it has air conditioning until a kid coming out of the library tells them the air conditioning is broken. They give up all hope, but then they go to The MacDonald's pool. At first Molly insults Arthur and she makes one side of the pool for herself, and one side of the pool for James, D.W., and Arthur. Molly befriends Arthur, but they can't get seen together or they will be mocked by their friends. They almost get busted on many occasions, but when Slink sees them walking together, it goes over the edge. Arthur and Molly's friends decide to do something about and they go to confront them at the MacDonald's pool, but only find Molly there. The friends think they may have stopped any sort of friendship from forming between Arthur and Molly, but are wrong as Arthur and D.W. hid away from plain sight before the group of friends arrived and Arthur and D.W. eventually head off towards the community pool.
Trivia
- James made a reference to the episode Kiss and Tell where he asked D.W. if he wanted him to kiss her again.
