Arthur's Reading Trick is a Step Into Reading Arthur book that was published in 2009, written and illustrated by Marc Brown. It includes two pages of stickers, one of which is intended for readers to use to write their own story about Arthur and D.W. doing something to help save the planet.
Plot
D.W. tries to play a trick on Arthur by betting him that Baby Kate can read.
Trivia
- The real life book Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss is used within the story by permission from Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P. It is stated to be the only book that D.W. knows how to read on her own, though in other media in the series she is generally unable to read at all.
- In this book, Baby Kate is shown demonstrating a higher level of understanding than normally seen within the series outside of scenes in which the babies and animals talk. Although she cannot read, she is shown saying words that match four different things when she sees them - "ball," "car," "bottle" and "diaper."
