[[Emily]] tells [[D.W. Read|D.W.]] about her trip to France and how her friend, Pierre, kissed her. D.W. soon wants to know it feels like to be kissed by a boy. She then starts going after one of her classmates [[James MacDonald|James]]. After many attempts of trying to get him to kiss her one day at [[Elwood City Preschool|school]] during lunch she slips and falls. She demands to know why James won't kiss her and before D.W. can say any more, James kisses her on the cheek. D.W. is in disbelief as James goes back to finishing his snack. Emily tells D.W. that Pierre only kissed her on the hand and offers D.W. her new hat, but D.W. declines and asks the [[Tibble Twins]] if they want to go swimming, but they run away from her becuase they are afraid that she wants to kiss them.

Summary
