Primal Screen

Primal Screen is a small-scale design and animation studio based in Atlanta, Georgia (USA). The studio was originally founded by Douglass Grimmett at Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1995 as an animated music video and advertisement production company before finding greater profit in making on-air branding for television networks.[1] Their most frequent and biggest client is PBS, who has commissioned the studio to create the branding and miscellaneous television spots for its PBS Kids subdivision (and later PBS Kids Go!) since its launch in 1999. The company is expected to shut down in May 2024.

For PBS Kids, Primal Screen created various Arthur promos that would be given out to various PBS member stations across the U.S. They are provided reference materials such as image files of Arthur characters, some can be used in bumpers. Occasionally, the team would animate Arthur characters (mostly Arthur, Buster and D.W.) for PBS Kids bumpers and special events.
