Tommy and Timmy are bears. They always dress identically. They normally wear yellow t-shirts, purple shorts, yellow socks, and black and white sneakers. As they are identical twins, Timmy always wears a blue handkerchief while Tommy wears a red one to differentiate. Originally in the books, they were shown as humans instead of bears.

Personality

Tommy and Timmy are mischievous, smart, reckless and often really mean and annoying (Timmy more than Tommy, but sometimes Tommy more than Timmy) but deep down they are good kids. Timmy is more independent and meaner than his brother as seen in "Double Tibble Trouble", when Tommy is not with Timmy he gets sad and behaves, but at the end of the episode when Tommy gets sick Timmy doesn't seem sad and behaves like always. Tommy also seems to have more of a sensitive side than Tommy, as shown in the episode "My Fair Tommy" when he decides to become good with the help of D.W.

Family

Tommy and Timmy live with their grandmother in a large house that looks almost haunted.

• Mrs. Tibble: She is Tommy and Timmy's grandmother. She loves the twins very much, but does not always show awareness to their erratic behavior, even though she does show the occasional distress. In the episode "Mind Your Manners" the twins forced themselves to learn manners to take her out to dinner. They spend all of their time at her house when they're not in preschool.

• Tommy and Timmy's parents: It was never said what happened to them. Many fans thought that they died but in "D.W.'s Backpack Mishap" when D.W. took Tommy's backpack by mistake, she found items that their mom had given them in trips she took. That might explain that their parents might be travellers. Their mom's name is Trixie (she's refered to in "D.W.'s Blankie") but there's no mention of their father. This hints that their father may be dead, that their parents are divorced, or that their mother never got married.

Friends

• D.W. Read: The Tibbles are her friends but often try to compete with and pester her. They also trick her into doing foolish things because she tends to be gullible.

• Emily: She is D.W's best friend. They often try to compete with her as well.
