Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt was the President of the United States in 1903. As president, he headed a ceremony recognizing the lumber town founded by Jacob Katzenellenbogan to now be an official city. "Elwood City Turns 100!"
Mr. Ratburn mentioned Roosevelt, along with Thomas Jefferson and Herbert Hoover, when the class ran a mock election. Roosevelt had summarized his plan for world peace as, "speak softly and carry a big stick." "The Election"
