Ms. McWord is Ed Crosswire's former English teacher and the author of the Scare-Your-Pants-Off-Books, which she writes under the pen-name E. A. DePoe. She was Ed's favorite teacher, and he shows a great deal of respect for her because of it.

- Her pen-name, E. A. DePoe, is a reference to horror author Edgar Allan Poe.
- In "The Fright Stuff", her pen name is spelled E.A. Depoe while in Arthur and the Scare-Your-Pants-Off Club it is E. A. D'Poe.
