Aunt Mable is Ladonna's aunt. Fern used Mable as inspiration for a fictional character named Aunt Sable.
Aunt Mable
Aunt Mable knits wild-looking ponchos, despite being unable to knit. She is especially good at bingo; she is the second best player in all of Orleans Parish.
Aunt Sable
In Fern's story, Aunt Sable bribed the Grey Dove, the only bingo player who is better than she, to never play bingo again by giving him many colorful ponchos. She used the bingo prize of a jetpack to steal jewelery, until Watteau and Bastings defeat her by hitting the jetpack with a baseball.
