Jesus was born 2,000 years ago[1] in Bethlehem.[2][3]

Sue Ellen described Christmas to her pen pal Ayah as, “the holy Christian celebration of the birth of Jesus.”[1] Brain gave an identical definition.[4] He also clarified that although the holiday is in December, “no one actually knows what day Jesus was born on.”[2] He may have been born at night,[5] midnight,[6] or the morn.[7]

Shepherds[3] and Wise Men brought gifts[1] and angels sang[5][3][6] when Jesus was born. According to Brain, the Wise Men “followed a bright star in the sky to the place where Jesus was born.”[4] He was lying in a manger.[7][3]

Jesus’s parents were Mary[3][8] and Joseph.[3] He was also called the son of God.[7] His mother was a virgin.[5]

Jesus is also called Christ the Savior,[5] the Savior,[9] Christ the Lord,[3] the Lord,[9] and was described as king[3] of heaven[6] and of earth[9] (the world).[9]

Behind the scenes[edit]

Jesus’s words have been paraphrased twice in the series:

"Well, sometimes it's difficult to serve two masters. Render unto Caesar, you know, and in this case, Caesar has been rendered too much."
Mrs. MacGrady to Francine, "Arthur - It's Only Rock 'n' Roll"

"The head is strong, but the stomach is weak."
Brain, "Sue Ellen Chickens Out"
