Dave is the grandfather of Arthur, D.W., Kate, and Cora, and the father of Jane Read, Jessica, Lucy, and Fred. He lives on the family farm near an Unnamed Town, which has been in the family for over 150 years. He plays as a independent, devoted and loving family man who enjoys playing checkers. Although he's part of the series' main cast, he has rarely appeared since. He is part Scandinavian (likely Swedish) according to Grandpa Dave's Old Country Farm when he said he had a grandfather named Gustaf.
