D.W. Read

Dora Winifred "D.W." Read is a fictional character in the Arthur books and TV series. She is Arthur's little sister and older sister of Baby Kate.

D.W. is often annoying to Arthur (he considers her a pest), but deep down truly loves her brother. She also has an imaginary friend named Nadine. She hates her full name and has everyone call her D.W. for short.

In the episode "D.W. All Fired Up", it was revealed that she had a fear of fire drills. In the episode "Kiss and Tell" it is revealed that she has a crush on her classmate James. She also is a picky eater (as seen in "D.W. the Picky Eater"), and hates spinach. She had a snowball that was stolen by aliens although she always believed Arthur stole it for several episodes and mentions it during the show. She is known for her many short-lived obsessions.

Appearance

D.W is an aardvark, like her brother, instead she's smaller and shorter. She wears a long white sleeve shirt that is under her pink and lavendar dress. With her dress, she wears a light pink panty hose with turqouise mary janes. D.W also has many alternate outfits; her footsie pyjamas, pink frilly swimsuit, red polka dot dress, her Arthur outfit, gymnastic suit and many more. She has short brown hair that is up to her cheeks, which sometimes she puts two clips on to pin it up.

Family

D.W lives with her family which consists of her father (David Read), her mother (Jane Read), her older brother (Arthur Read) and her baby sister (Baby Kate).

• Arthur Read - Usually Arthur and D.W are seen fighting with each other, especially over their TV time and when she annoys him, but they also truly love and care for each other. A usual theme with Arthur and D.W, is Arthur usually forgets to play with D.W the games he promised her. It was noted that Arthur use to play with D.W all the time, until Arthur believed that D.W liked "Baby Stuff".

Baby Kate Read- Baby Kate is D.W's younger sister who regualary looks up to D.W. and does favors for her regulary with pal like finding her sock

• Pal- D.W. and Arthur's dog pal are in a love-hate relationship Pal likes D.W. but D.W. regularly dislikes him but sometimes treats him nicely.

Freinds

D.W has many pre-school freinds such as Emily, The Tibbles and James

• Emily- Emily is D.W's Best Freind but is often trying to compete with her and is jealous often.

• Tommy and Timmy Tibble- The Tibbles are D.W's freinds but often try to compete with her and pesture her in one episode they thought D.W. was in love with them but really she liked James.
