Crown City is a city. It is a parody of New York, New York which bears a striking resembalance to its Brooklyn neighborhood.  From Elwood City to Crown City the drive is over 100 miles, and along the way you pass through a lot of farmland. Despite the distance, in The Long Road Home George Lundgren walked from Elwood City to Crown City in 11 hours to raise money for Autism research.

Even though the city is a parody of NYC, Arthur Read and his family went to the New York City with Buster and Bo Baxter in the pilot episode of Postcards from Buster. Buster also went to New York 2 other times in his spin-off series.

Song

The kids sing a song about Crown City in Muffy Goes Metropolitan. Here's an excerpt from the song.

Before the song Muffy says,

"The glamorous and gleaming metropolis, Crown City?" Sue Ellen responds with,

"Yep that's the one." Then Francine breaks out into song using a milk bottle for a microphone. Arthur and Buster join in on, Try your luck fair kid.

'Crown City you're dynamite, you're peaches and cream try your luck fair kid Crown City! Crown City! You're one heck of a diamond by the sea!"

General Information

Crown City first appeared in Muffy Goes Metropolitan. It is located near an ocean according to the song, but it has a bridge similar to the Brooklyn Bridge. It has its own professional baseball team called the Crown City Kings, that played the Elwood City Grebes in the World Series, and also a Crown City hockey team that played against the Elwood City Otters in the playoffs at the end of the episode Bitzi's Beau.

Architecture

The architecture in Crown City.

Subway

Crown City has its own subway. In Muffy Goes Metropolitan the train that passes Muffy, Sue Ellen and Carla it seems well kept, but in Strangers on a Train it seemed trashy. In the subway, there are performers and food stands.

In Comparison to Elwood City

Some episodes portray Elwood City in a different light compared to Crown City. Muffy Goes Metropolitan portrays it as a grand city, much larger than Elwood City and referred to as a place for weekend vacations. Other episodes, such as The Long Road Home portray Crown City as simply a sister city to Elwood City. Some of speculated that Elwood City might be a suburb of Crown City.

Trivia

  • Crown City is nicknamed the "Big Banana". This is probably because Crown City is a parody of New York, and New York is nicknamed the "Big Apple".
