"Baseball Blues" is the first half of the seventh episode in the sixteenth season of Arthur.

Summary

It's Grebelings season and George can't wait to play! After all, no one knows more about baseball than George. But when he realizes knowledge of sinkers doesn't guarantee success in the field, will he throw in the towel?[5]

Plot

The episode begins with George explaining the cancelled World Series in 1994 when Francine experienced batting difficulties, so George taught her. Then they practiced, but George wasn't doing very good. He felt like a failure. So George's dad made him a bat. The game went well for the Grebelings, but not for George. So he chose to quit the team, but when Francine is sick, he plans to go. The game was a success and the Grebelings won. George then became the new announcer.

Characters

Trivia

"WGBH" on the microphone
  • In the teaser where George imagines playing baseball, the radio microphone says "WGBH" on the announcer's box, which WGBH is the co-producer of the Arthur TV series.

Errors

  • Although Sue Ellen's name is clearly listed among Mr. Frensky's team roster, she does NOT appear in this episode.
  • In George's room there are flags of what year the Grebes won and in the episode The Curse of the Grebes the Grebes hadn't won since 1918. But in George's room it says they've won before that.
