Arthur's Promise is the first book in Arthur's Family Values, a series of Arthur book titles aimed specifically at teaching moral. The moral of the book is "Keeping a Promise."

Plot summary

Desperate to watch an episode of The Bionic Bunny Show, Arthur makes a promise to allow D.W. to attend the next meeting of the Bionic Bunny Fan Club if she foregoes watching her Mary Moo Cow special, Mary Moo Cow Meets the Rainbow Pony. On the day of Arthur's meeting, D.W. arrives in his room showing off a Bionic Bunny costume made for her by Grandma Thora and he is mortified. He tries everything he can think of to stop D.W. from attending the meeting, but D.W.'s presence may turn out to be the best thing that has ever happened to his club.
