'Fred' is the brother of Jane Read, Jessica, and Lucy and the son of Grandpa Dave. He is also the uncle of Arthur, D.W., Kate, and Cora and the brother-in-law of David Read and Richard. He closely resembles his father, but with no facial hair. He works in a china shop and has a dog named Rory. He is the only one in Jane's family to remain single.
ARTHUR'S PERFECT CHRISTMAS (film)
Uncle Fred appears in the Arthur Christmas Film Arthur's Perfect Christmas. He sends the Read Family a Christmas Video telling them that he and Rory can't spend Christmas with them this year because they're going to Florida but then Uncle Fred breaks a lamp accidently and while he's fixing it Rory sniffs at the camera and puts it in his mouth thinking that it's a chew toy causing the picture to go blank and the Reads laugh calling Uncle Fred funny and Arthur remembers last year when Uncle Fred accidently broke the tea set that Arthur's Dad got Arthur's Mom for Christmas to which Arthur's Dad says That wasn't very funny. Later that night as Arthur and Pal are in bed they hear a noise outside and rush downstairs to see what it is and it turns out that it's Uncle Fred who was coming by to drop off some Christmas Presents and accidently drove his car into the Reads' fence outside. Because of this Uncle Fred has his car taken into a workshop and decides to stay the night at the Reads. The next day when D.W. wakes up she sees Uncle Fred in the bathroom with shaving cream on and thinks he's Santa Clause. He later tells a tearful Arthur who broke the present he bought for his mom that Christmas is more that just about presents.
Past Life
Like his siblings, Fred grew up near Unidentified Town on Grandpa Dave's Farm (inferred as his dad Grandpa Dave is said to have lived there for a long time).
