User blog:The Pop Cult Gamer/How Nerves Of Steal Could Have Been...

I decided to write another alternate routes on how the different the episode could have been if characters did other choices in the plot keys. Looking back at another episode of Arthur, Nerves of Steal. I think the episode could have turned out very, VERY differently if these the characters did these following scenarios.

Scenario #1 Buster does chores for other neighbors.

This definitely seems like a no-brainer. Buster would have NEVER gotten in trouble in the first place. If he did just this. Then again, it could be too similar to Arthur Bounces Back?

Scenario #2 Buster waits until his birthday

This could take awhile and as an action figure collector myself, these things often end up having shortages and their prices SKYROCKET due to demand. Sometimes they re-print them and occasionally, revise their designs them such as the S.H. Figuarts kind of Dragon Ball Z.

If I were Buster, I would try to convince Bitzi if I could do chores for other neighbors to earn money to buy them?

Also, if they were being sold at the Drug Store they got to be less than 15 dollars. Drug Store toys are basically clearance of toys from months ago when they were much more expensive. Buster should have EASILY been able to earn money like that in no time!

Scenario #3 Buster steals the Cyber-toy but puts it in his own backpack

If Buster did this, Arthur wouldn’t gotten in any trouble at all. It would have all been on Buster instead.

Scenario #4 The store’s Anti-Theft machines go off when Arthur leaves the store

This is one of the biggest head-scratchers in the whole episode. Why on earth did the Anti-Theft machines not go off? You can see they are there as Arthur, D.W., Kate and Jane leave the store. If they did off, Buster probably would have confessed right there that HE put it in Arthur’s backpack.

Also, stores would NEVER allow customers to come in with backpacks. Most stores have signs they say “No Food, Drinks or Backpacks.” These doesn’t mean they think you would make a mess in with the former two. It means that someone could try to hide a small item in a bag of chips, a cup or a backpack. That drug store owner is being an idiot himself for not thinking to have signs that disallow food, drinks and backpacks. And for not having active Anti-Theft machines and having ALL security cameras working! Even more idiocy with the owner, is that if someone brings in a backpack. They could have a bomb, a gun, a knife, etc. in that backpack. Potentially endangering his life and the other customers lives!

Scenario #5 The Security Cameras WERE on and the Anti-Theft alarm goes off

It would prove that Arthur is innocent and that Buster took it. Ending the story.

Scenario #6 Buster confesses to Arthur in his room and Arthur tells his parents since he is not guilty of stealing it.

Buster would get in trouble and Arthur wouldn’t. They would probably have Arthur not be allowed to hang around Buster for awhile.

Scenario #7 Arthur and Buster throw away the Cyber-Toy in a public trash can like the park.

That way, they wouldn’t get caught. Unless, the park has security cameras.

Scenario #8 Arthur and Buster don’t write the confession note. And go their early before the drug store owner arrives to drop it off in front.

This probably wouldn’t work either. Since stores have security cameras in the front and back of the stores outside.

Scenario #9 Arthur and Buster write the confession note but don’t mention Arthur’s name

Again, this probably wouldn’t work if the drug store owner had his security cameras on during closed hours.

Scenario #10 Arthur and Buster arrive in the store without writing the note

Arthur and Buster make sure the toy is turned off. Arthur places the toy on the side of the Cyber-toy and they leave. Since the drug store owner didn’t have his cameras on, it actually COULD have worked and they wouldn’t have gotten caught!

Scenario #11 Arthur explains himself

When the drug store reads the note, Arthur explains that Buster put it in his backpack without him knowing and Arthur learned it was in there when Buster showed him. Buster confesses that Arthur is innocent and that he put it in his backpack. Buster would have gotten punished but the drug store owner would have probably still called Arthur parents to explain to him why it is important to tell your parents if your friend steals something and puts it in your backpack.

Scenario #12 The drug store owner forgives Arthur and Buster and doesn’t call their parents

The drug store owner is overjoyed that they returned the toy and Buster admitted his mistake and apologized for it. This probably wouldn’t be a good idea for the drug store owner to do this because Buster might steal again from someone else. If he called their parents, they would learn their mistakes for sure.

So yeah, everyone this episode could have taken many, many different routes that would have altered the plot. I am doing Double Dar and maybe Arthur Accused! next time!
