User blog:Syndiate/Season 1 Review

Each episode will be ranked on a scale from 1-10 (relative to the scope of the show, not all TV episodes). When all is said and done, I will rank the episodes, then average all the episodes' scores and assign that rating to the season as a whole.

If I recall correctly, Season 1 was kind of decent, so let's see if that opinion still holds up.

Arthur's Eyes[edit]

Ahhhh, the first episode of the entire series. This episode's opening intro is good, and I feel that it is a good scene to start off the show. D.W.'s "theory" is funny. Not much else to say here.

The first half of this episode isn't anything too special of course, but for what it does, it is well-written with good pacing. I like the scene where Arthur tries on different glasses.

The second half of this episode isn't as well-written, and the characters act how they wouldn't act, especially Buster. But this is the first episode, so what do you expect from the characters. I do like how Arthur's glasses keep coming back to him, indicating that he's going to have to face the ridicule himself.

However, the ending and moral feels half-assed, like they had 1 minute left and had to come up with an ending. It feels very rushed and is a deus ex machina. I get what they were going for here, that there are always other people like you even when people ridicule you for being different and that it's OK, but it's not well-written at all. I like the final scene where D.W.

In my opinion, after Arthur gets his glasses, the quality steadily declines. Overall, I feel this episode gets a 5.1/10, because of the much weaker second half.
