I'm always a newbie. 100% of the time. I always join websites, clubs, organizations, or anything else long after they are established. I'm always the new guy on the block, no different from anyone else. There's only one exception. A website called Arthur Wiki. It is there that I am not a newbie, but some old geezer in a retirement home.

I have been around on the wiki since March of 2010, way, way, back some 2 and a half years ago. And believe me, a lot has changed since then around here. Barely anything is the same. And it recently has occurred to me that I am one of the only users here who is not foreign to the glory days of the summer of 2010. There is only one user that is even remotely around here anymore that could give you some small recollection of the events that took place that year. So in light of that fact, I want to treat you to my recollection of those events, what I call the glory days of the wiki. Not that the wiki isn't glorious now, it's just that those days have a special place in my heart.

Because I feel like I'm one of the people that helped to lay the foundation to this wiki, this entire wiki has a very special place in my heart. This wiki feels like a child to me, something that you never, ever quit loving, no matter what. I will always love this wiki, and stand by it, high and proud, over and over again. Because this wiki is one of the only things in my life that I have to be proud of right now. And let me tell you, this is one heck of a thing to be proud of.

Now I'm not trying to take away the magic and greatness of the newer generations of Wikians. They have their place and have done a lot of great things for this wiki. What I'm trying to do is make you understand the special place the wiki was in 2010, and to make you respect and get to know the users that I already have grown to know and love. Cause boy were they great. This whole wiki teemed with greatness. Sure, it was in no state even close to what it is now, but it was fun making this. And I'm gonna tell you all about it in this series of articles I'm beginning, Recollections of an Old Geezer: The Early Days of Arthur Wiki. I have a lot of stories and fun stuff to share with you that I'm going to spread out over a period of time, so that it almost feels that this becomes a long, recurring series rather than just a short little 2 part thing. Of course, I really don't know how much I have until I get it all down in text. But most of all, I want you to really enjoy this series and get some insight as to what this wiki used to be. I'm going to link each and every blog post on my profile page, so keep checking back there frequently to ensure that you don't miss any of this.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm just gonna sit down in my rocking chair, put on my bifocals, and take a trip down memory lane.
