We at Arthur Wiki have now added some guidelines as to how you are to act on Arthur Wiki Chat to the policy page. I'm also going to post them here:

The Arthur Wiki chat rules as to what is and isn’t acceptable is mainly based on common sense of what you should and shouldn’t do on the internet. However it is still necessary to record a written list of what is not considered acceptable to do and talk about on chat. Doing any of the following actions may result in a kick or block from an administrator or chat moderator, at their discretion:

1. Major foul language. If you have a question as to what words you should and shouldn’t be saying on chat, use this basic rule: If it wouldn’t be acceptable to say around a child, don’t say it at all.

2. Links to any seriously inappropriate videos, pictures, or content. If you do feel there are some minor inappropriate elements in something you are linking to, please put a user discretion warning.

3. Talking badly about a user behind their back. It is OK to discuss the reliability of an edit, or report rule-breaking activity, but talking badly about them for no reason is, in addition to being unproductive, no help to anyone on the wiki. It just gives others a worse opinion about the user. If it doesn’t danger the wiki, keep those thoughts to yourself.

4. Making hateful remarks toward any group, race, person, or religion. It is OK to disagree, and even argue in some cases, but it is not OK to say mean or offensive phrases. Before you say anything, think about how you would feel in the other person’s shoes.

5. Revealing personal information about a user. A user’s actual name, age, location, and other information may only be released by that user.

6. Continually bugging a user to reveal personal information. While it is OK to ask them something about themselves, it is not productive to continually bug them. If they say no, that should be the end of it.

On Arthur Wiki chat, we have had a few instances in the past where innocent actions were accused of being offensive. To clarify, these instances are just some of the actions NOT WORTHY OF KICKING OR BANNING:

1. A user continuing to talk about a perfectly fine topic, despite a chat mod’s warning. Only in times of an offensive conversation may the user be punished.

2. Using non-inappropriate phrases that could be offensive in occasional instances, but are not in the instance at hand. These can include terms such as “get lost,” where the term could be offensive to a user in occasional cases, but is most likely being used as a non-literal line.

3. Staying on chat for an extensive period of time without posting anything. All users have the right to be logged on chat for as long as they choose. These rules are still intact in private messages, however the chat administration team has no control over what happens in private messages. If you are being offended or harassed by another user in a private message, it is your responsibility to block private messages from this user by clicking on their name on the chat sidebar while you are in a private message with them, and clicking the “Block Private Messages” button.

Of course these are only some of the cases where you can and can’t be punished. Please note that each and every one of these instances vary from case to case, at the discretion of the chat administration. Current chat administration is THE CJ IS BACK, Magnezonomon, Muppetfan, and Colgatecity. If one of these users punished you in a way that you do not believe was worth a punishment, please contact someone else from the chat administration team and explain your case. The rest of the team will then determine whether or not the instance was punishment-worthy.
