User blog:Muppetfan/An Emergency Address

From Arthur Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

With so many little incidents that happen on this wiki, it's very rare that I am moved enough by one to actually take the time to write a lengthy blog post in regards to one. But today I found a situation so appalling that I have no choice to address the wiki about it. I know some people are probably going to take offense to this, so I'm telling you right now not to. This isn't aimed at one person, nor yelling at any one person. I just want to remind the ENTIRE wiki about our morals around here. This is aimed at everyone, no matter what side of the issue you are on, as both sides seem to be at fault in some ways .I don't care if you don't even know what I'm talking about...just read anyway.

I first and foremost want to apologize to every user on this wiki for anything that anyone did that put you in any kind of hubbub. I have true confidence in each and every user here that they didn't mean to put the whole wiki in a big hubbub, and I apologize to all readers, editors, vandals, and all else who's regularly scheduled programming has been interrupted by this little drama. All three of us admins work tirelessly to keep this stuff out of the wiki, but sometimes they do get through the system, which is what has happened here today.

I want to commence by reminding the entire wiki that when we say they take a neutral point of view when writing articles, we mean that in more ways than one. The wiki as a whole always balances a neutral view of past, present, and future Arthur productions. It is the USERS who do not maintain a neutral view, and that is what makes the wiki unique. Every user is entitled to their own opinion. If you do not like the fact that some user might hate season 1 of Arthur, then I recommend that you leave this wiki sooner rather than later.

Though we may agree to disagree on an issue, we cannot flame each other for their opinions. Each person has their own opinion and they shouldn't be badmouthed for it in anyway.

Note though, that that doesn't mean we can shove opinions in each others' faces like creme pies. AND I MEAN THAT TO ALL PARTIES. I don't care if you love Arthur or hate Arthur, just don't beat your opinions over users' heads and you will be OK.

Now going back to the impending issue a bit, I am proud to say that the said banned user's chat ban has been drastically lowered after careful consideration by the chat administration team, and is still subject to change based on further consideration. I do greatly encourage any party who may have offended this user to apologize to him, on behalf of themselves and the whole wiki. It's a terrible pain to have to see a user walk out of the wiki in this way, and I encourage said user to not do so. I can't be the influential person in your decision, but I do encourage that.

In conclusion, I ask that each and every user on this wiki, vandal or editor, admin or chat mod, fanon writer or coding expert, to consider each other before going against the things that I said above. It is OK to express your frustration or delight with any Arthur production, past, present or future. In fact, it is encouraged to pick and choose your own opinions, as that is what makes the wiki community complete. But while you are doing it, please be respectful of others.
