The Social Network is an Arthur fanon about an episode idea.
Plot[edit]
Arthur and the gang are at school. Arthur has a daydream where he asks the audience "Have you ever felt like something so weird was so popular?" It then shows Arthur on what looks like a social networking site, on Muffy's profile. The internet cursor moves to the top right, and clicks "Logout." Arthur falls off the screen, and the intertitle shows.
Muffy and Francine are at Muffy's mansion, talking about the new website that is all the craze in school and Elwood City. It is using up many of the kids (and even the parents) times! Muffy has an account on the website, even though most of the people she are friends with are just acquaintances. Muffy questions Francine, asking her why she doesn't have account. She replies with "It's just a stupid website, Muffy, but leave it to you to join it." Muffy is offended by it. Francine sees that Muffy added Molly, a 4th grader, to her friends list. She sighs and leaves Muffy's house to go eat dinner.
The next day at school, everybody is talking about the new site. Almost everybody in Mr. Ratburn's class has an account, even Mr. Ratburn himself! All except Buster, Arthur, and Francine. Mr. Ratburn doesn't spend much time teaching them, as he is too interested in the various features of the new site. He asks Brain about the functions, and Mr. Ratburn shows them an application on the website that does math automatically, using an online calculator. Mr. Ratburn He comments on the brilliance of it, despite him not being knowledgeful of technology. The school bell rings. Lunch time! But everybody's happiness goes away when Ratburn assigns a 5-page essay to the class.
This time, Muffy Pesters everybody else while they are outside, asking them why they don't have their own accounts. She calls it "revolutionary", but not everybody agrees with it. Arthur doesn't like it, nor does Buster. But they must be sucked into the craze... everybody is. Muffy is addicted to the website. She updates her status, using the app for the Portilex 360. It shows up as "Mary Alice Crosswire (Muffy): Outside." Once again, Francine is annoyed.
Francine goes to Muffy's mansion. Chip is visiting from the college he is attending, Tallahassee Tech. He has an account for the website, too. Muffy and Francine goes to Muffy's room, and they turn on the TV. Francine changes the channel to the Local sports channel; the Elwood City Otters are playing against Crown City. It goes to a commercial break, and it shows a short ad that says "Join the Elwood City Otters page on Facespace." Francine never knew that they had things related to sports on the website! She finally makes an account on Muffy's laptop. She is addicted to it.
Francine goes home, and Catherine is on the couch watching TV, the latest episode of Top Supermarket Clerk. In a lazy tone she tells Francine "Oh, the computer stopped working. It got a virus or something." and that it'll be fixed in a week. Francine is freaked out from this. Finally after she starts to like it, her computer breaks. How ironic. Now she'll have to go to Muffy's house just to go on it! Francine's parents get home from dinner, and tell her that
