User blog:DJ MC CJ/Caesar's Thoughts (Part 2)
Oh no, I'm not finished just yet. Part 1 was to cover some basis. Part 2 has to do with what's going on the site. Right off the bat, if an admin says do not post a link to an episode that hasn't aired in the US/Canada, you should abide to that order.
If you can't abide to that order, then a ban will take place. If you posted a link to a channel, then that's okay really, cause you're not physically linking an un-aired episode.
Of course, if anyone is airing their Youtube channel just to get views, your post will be deleted. Another thing that is very problematic, users riding on other user's bandwagon.
Now what do I mean by that? Basically, doing something like category spamming, adding categories that clearly have no business being on the wiki, and adding characters that played little to no role in the series.
That's stuff that happened in the past and we moved away from that. What happened in the past is in the past. Let me give everyone a summary of what the wiki was like in the past.
In the past, this wiki was very dysfunctional, had low morale, had hundreds of spam images, posts, and pages, we had the bullying, belittling, and outright disrespect of users (some of which had medical conditions and never got an apology for), no one saw eye to eye with each other (still the case to this day), vandals were rampant, the site had no admins to take charge or lead, we had admins that left without even giving us time to find replacements leaving at times only one admin to do the work (thankfully that didn't last long).
That is all in the past and we aren't going back to that. After everyone got their heads on their shoulders, we created policies to prevent category spamming and page spamming.
Another thing and this relates to riding the bandwagon. Users who do all of that stuff, then they assume that they're qualified to be an admin.
It doesn't work that way. To be a mod, you have to be able to do more then just one thing. You have to be flexible at doing other things that benefits the page.
You also need to be prepared to handle criticism, cause users will criticize you and even test you on that. You can't block people for criticizing, cause that's not how it works.
Another thing is you have to be mentally capable of dealing with all sorts of users. Everyone is different and no one is the same. People's days are like dice rolls, some maybe nice and others sounding stressed out.
We have users on the site with Asperger's, so that's something to consider. I hope everyone understands that when editing around here. That's all for now.
