Duke Vladimir is a villain in the Horrendously Horrible Happenings fictional book series that Fern reads. He is constantly trying to capture the Bronte orphans and steal their fortune.
He first kidnapped them in book 1 during a magic act where he made them vanish, but not reappear. In book 10, he demanded they give him their fortune or he would drop the smallest orphan into a pool of crocodiles; to which they actually gave him the money, and he let her go free. He is a parody of Count Olaf from Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.
