D.W. Tricks the Tooth Fairy/Transcript
Introduction[edit]
Arthur, Brain, Francine and Buster are reading or drawing in the treehouse wearing winter clothes. D.W.’s voice is heard.
D.W.: My mother says I'm just imagining Arthur and his friends get all the attention. A-hem! Hey! Hey! Over here! See? Even when I talk, you're looking at them! Hello! I'm down here!
The camera finally shows D.W. waving from the ground. She continues to work on a snowman.
D.W.: Just because they're older, everybody acts like they're so much more important. But I'm glad I'm not like them. Know why? They're always losing teeth and getting spaces in their faces.
Kate and Pal join her. In her imagination, Arthur, Brain, Buster and Francine walk through a sky of floating grins. While the Tooth Fairy conducts, they play music with their teeth until about half of their teeth fall out.
The fantasy ends. The snowman loses a coal tooth.
D.W.: Eugh! I hope my teeth never fall out so I don't have to look goofy like those older kids! Eugh!
Kate: Eugh!
Pal: (whines)
Title Card: Super Sister[edit]
On the Reads’ TV, a rainbow flies down to Earth, followed by Lucy, Maryann and Sarah.
Song (on TV): “A fluffy unicorn / flying down a rainbow / through pink and fluffy clouds / with wings made of real feathers / and flowing mane so proud."
Three toy unicorns for the girls appear out of a cloud.
Song (on TV): "Every girl should have one / everybody knows / when you own a unicorn / your smile grows and grows...”
D.W. sits on the couch with a toy unicorn beside her.
D.W.: Oh. Oh. Look, Fluffy! It's you!
On TV, the unicorn flies past a broken-down barn, which turns into a toy barn.
Song (on TV): “There's something so important / and every young girl knows / a unicorn needs care and love / and lots of... fancy clothes!”
The toy barn opens and is revealed to be a wardrobe.
D.W.: Oh... man...!
She leans forward and falls off the couch.
D.W.: Ow!
Unicorn (on TV): The My Fluffy Unicorn Clotheshorse Horseclothes Barn is more fun than a bare unicorn.
D.W. grabs her unicorn and runs into the hallway.
D.W.: Mom! Mom! Mom! Mom! Mom! Mom! Mom! Mom! Mom!
Mrs. Read: I'm in the den!
D.W.: Oh... Mom! Mom! Mom! Mom!
Mrs. Read: What is it?
D.W.: Will you tell me something? If I want a My Fluffy Unicorn Clotheshorse Horseclothes Barn, how long would I have to save my allowance?
She hands her mom a calculator. Mrs. Read types something and shows it to D.W.
D.W.: Is that hours or days?
Mrs. Read: Months!
D.W.: Oh-oh-oh-oh! But I need it now! My birthday!
Mrs. Read: Was last month.
D.W.: Oh...
***
That night, D.W. lies in bed next to her toy unicorn.
D.W.: (moans) If that U.F.O. picture I took during Arthur's sleepover was only real, I'd be rich and I could buy you that Clotheshorse Horseclothes Barn! Don't you worry, Fluffy! I'll get it for you if I have to...
She falls asleep.
***
The next morning, D.W. stirs her porridge at the breakfast table.
D.W.: Hm.
Arthur walks by and gives her a toothy smile that is missing one tooth.
D.W.: (chuckles) You look goofy every time you lose another tooth, Arthur!
Arthur shows a coin.
Arthur: So what? I got another dollar! The Tooth Fairy left it under my pillow.
D.W.: Say what?
Arthur: The Tooth Fairy takes baby teeth and leaves money.
D.W.: Why did no one tell me this?
D.W. follows Arthur into the hallway, where he puts on his shoes.
D.W.: You mean you got money for a tooth every time you lost one?
Arthur: Every one. She takes the teeth and leaves the money.
D.W.: What kind of person would do that?
Arthur: A fairy.
D.W. imagines a small fairy flying into Mr. Haney’s room.
D.W. (narrator): So she flies into every house on Earth and checks for teeth?
The fairy lifts Mr. Haney’s pillow and head with some difficulty.
Tooth Fairy: (grunts)
Mr. Haney falls out of the bed.
Mr. Haney: Arg! Oh...
The fairy flies away.
Arthur (narrator): Of course not!
Arthur imagines a tooth shaped space-station. The tooth fairy sits at a computer screen.
Arthur (narrator): She uses a combination of magic and advanced computer scanning software.
The screen shows a set of teeth with one missing.
The fantasy ends. Arthur puts on his scarf.
D.W.: That makes sense. But what does she do with all those old teeth?
Arthur imagines the tooth fairy flying through the clouds with a large sack of teeth.
Arthur (narrator): Maybe her castle is made of teeth.
The Tooth Fairy flies to a large white castle and gives the teeth to an older fairy who is building a wall. Then drives out of the castle in a car.
D.W. (narrator): Where does she get all the money?
The fantasy ends.
Arthur: You ask too many questions!
D.W. looks thoughtful, then feels her tooth.
D.W.: My tooth is loose!
Arthur: It is not!
D.W.: Is too!
Arthur: Nope. You're too young to lose teeth!
He goes outside into the snow causing D.W. to shiver.
D.W.: It's not fair!
***
D.W. stands in front of the bathroom mirror and counts her teeth.
D.W.: ...ten...eleven... fourteen... Wow! I got teeth to spare! Now, what did Arthur do when he wanted to lose a tooth?
Flashback from “Arthur’s Tooth”. Arthur tries to pull his loose tooth with a string attached to the bathroom door, causing the doorknob to fall out. When he tries again, the string gets tied around the toothpaste and squirts some on him.
Arthur: Aah!
D.W.: I won't make the same mistakes as Arthur!
***
Later, Arthur comes home from school. It is still snowing outside.
Arthur: Brr!
He hears D.W.’s voice from the living room.
D.W.: Run! Run now! Sleep later!
Arthur: Huh?
In the living room, D.W. has tied a string to her tooth and attached the other end to Pal’s collar. Pal lies on the floor.
D.W.: Run! Go! Look! A cat!
Arthur: D.W., what are you doing?
D.W.: I'm pulling my loose tooth. If your lazy dog would just run!
Arthur: Oh, no! Stop it! Your tooth is not loose! The only reason to have a tooth pulled if you have a toothache!
He unties Pal and picks him up. D.W. smiles maliciously.
***
Later, the Reads have dinner.
Arthur: D.W. tied Pal to her mouth so he'd pull one of her teeth out.
Mr. Read: (sputters)
Mrs. Read: D.W.!
D.W.: But I have a toothache as big as this house! My tooth needs to be pulled out!
Arthur: Mom, she's making it up!
D.W.: Am not! It really hurts! Watch!
She taps her teeth with a spoon.
D.W.: Ow!
Mrs. Read: D.W., don't do that! If it hurts tomorrow, we'll visit the dentist on our way to the museum.
Mr. Read: You're all going to the museum?
Arthur: You can come too, Dad!
Mr. Read: I've got to work. Aw. I'd like to go to the museum. Rats!
***
At the dentist’s office, Arthur examines a model of a set of teeth. D.W. sits in the examining chair.
Arthur: Hello in there!
Mrs. Read: Arthur, take your head out of Dr. Sozio's mouth!
Dr. Sozio: That's okay, Mrs. Read. That's what it's for.
D.W.: Hey! This is about me, remember? I guess all my teeth have to go!
Dr. Sozio: No, your teeth are perfect! I don't think the Tooth Fairy will visit you for a year or two.
Arthur: See? I told you!
***
The Reads drive through the town.
D.W.: Why won't anyone believe that my tooth needs to come out?
Arthur: Er... because it doesn't?
***
The Reads go into the museum. Inside, they look at a dinosaur display. D.W. looks at the teeth of a carnivorous dinosaur, then a saber-toothed tiger, then a shark.
D.W.: Wow!
Another set of teeth is revealed to belong to a museum guard.
D.W.: Wow! If I had teeth like that, I'd be rich!
They walk up to the museum shop.
Arthur: I liked the whale and the mummy was cool too!
D.W.: A gift shop! Can we buy stuff?
Arthur: Maybe they're selling mummies?
Mrs. Read: You can each buy one little thing.
D.W. looks at a display of animal magnets.
Mrs. Read: Would you like a unicorn magnet, D.W.?
D.W.: No. It has no clothes.
Arthur picks up a toy lion and then a toy snake. He sees a toy monkey with a sign saying "Squeeze me". Arthur does.
Monkey (Francine's voice): I'm the best athlete in the whole school.
Arthur looks confused.
D.W. sees packets of chewing gum.
D.W.: Hey! When Arthur wanted to lose a tooth, he used gum!
Flashback from “Arthur’s Tooth”. Arthur sits at his desk eating chewing gum and nuts.
D.W.: Hey, Arthur, I know how you could get rid of that tooth in a flash!
Arthur: How?
D.W.: Turn into a shark! Grr! Their teeth always fall out and they just keep on growing new ones. I learned that at the aquarium. And... I got this!
She shows a shark tooth necklace.
The flashback ends.
D.W.: Hm. It worked for Arthur, it'll work for me. Mommy, I know what I want.
***
The Reads drive home.
D.W.: (hums to herself)
***
That evening, D.W. brushes her teeth when Arthur comes in.
D.W.: (hums to herself)
Arthur: Okay, what are you up to?
D.W.: What do you mean?
Arthur: You've been so upset about your teeth and now you're all happy! Why?
D.W.: I'll tell you a secret, Arthur, if you promise not to tell Mom and Dad.
Arthur: I promise!
D.W.: The Tooth Fairy's coming tonight, and I'm gonna trick her... with this.
She shows a shark tooth.
Arthur: I don't think that's a very good idea, D.W. My friends didn't fall for that one, and they're just kids. The Tooth Fairy's whole job is teeth.
D.W.: Oh, Arthur. Don't be a worrywart! I've got it under control!
***
That night, Arthur lies in bed.
Arthur: The Tooth Fairy's never gonna fall for that shark tooth, Pal. She might even get mad that D.W. tried to trick her. She might get so mad that she'll never come to our house again!
He looks at some coins.
Arthur: I could lose all my teeth and never see a penny! What's the point? I'd better stop this before D.W. ruins it for all of us!
He rushes out.
***
Meanwhile, D.W. lies in her bed and talks in her sleep.
D.W.: Tooth Fairy. Tooth Fairy.
In her dream, the tooth fairy appears. She waves her wand and the shark tooth appears.
Tooth Fairy: There! Good one!
She puts in a machine and coins come out.
Tooth Fairy: Oh, this is such a good tooth, it's worth more than this!
She uses a lever on her machine and a toy barn comes out.
The dream ends.
D.W.: (sighs)
Arthur sneaks into D.W.’s room.
Arthur: Ow!
He has stubbed his toe on a bowling ball.
Arthur: Why does D.W. have a bowling ball in her room?
Kate: (coos)
Arthur: Shh!
D.W.: Mm. Tooth Fairy. Mm.
Arthur takes the shark tooth and puts coins under the pillow. D.W. turns her head and Arthur has difficulty to remove his hand.
Arthur: Oof.
On the way out he hits the bowling ball again.
Arthur: Ow!
He stifles a scream and hurries out. D.W. wakes up. Kate points to the door, but D.W. goes back to sleep. The tooth is still on the nightstand.
***
The next morning, Arthur walks to the breakfast table.
Arthur: Ow! I didn't think it was possible to stub all of your toes at once! Is it always this painful to do something nice for your little sister?
D.W. comes with a handful of coins.
D.W.: Look! Look what the Tooth Fairy left me. I tricked the Tooth Fairy. I tricked the Tooth Fairy. I tricked the Tooth Fairy...
Arthur: It worked! Now we won't have to listen to her talk about teeth all the time.
D.W. shows the shark tooth.
D.W.: And the Tooth Fairy's left this on my night table, so... I'm going to do it again tonight!
She runs out.
D.W.: I tricked the Tooth Fairy! I tricked the Tooth Fairy!
Arthur: Aw...
