D.W. Aims High/Transcript
Introduction[edit]
Arthur is standing in the Elwood City Science Museum next to a bust of Albert Einstein.
Arthur: Albert Einstein was a famous scientist. But before he was famous, he was just a kid with a lot of questions. D.W. joins him.
D.W.: I have a question.
Arthur: D.W., can't you see I'm busy?! Ahem, when Einstein was just three years old, he wanted to know things. Like when his baby sister was born.
Flashback: Little Albert lifts his baby sister out of her crib.
Einstein: It is nice, but where are its wings?
Arthur: As he got older, he asked questions that nobody could answer.
Flashback: A school age Albert rides a bicycle through a wood.
Einstein: Could I ever catch up to a beam of light? He pedals faster and transforms in to a beam of light.
Arthur: As an adult, he kept on asking questions that changed the way we think about the universe. Oh, and...
Albert Einstein rides a beam of light through space and gives a thumbs up.
D.W.: Can I ask my question now? The flashbacks/fantasy end.
Arthur: What, D.W.? What's so important that you have to interrupt me?
D.W.: When's the show gonna start? You've been talking forever!
Arthur: Oh. He facepalms.
#[edit]
D.W. looks through a telescope that Mr. Read has set up in front of the house.
D.W.: Whoa, the moon looks so big!
Mr. Read: Isn't it beautiful? Here, let me see if I can find Mars for you.
D.W.: It must be tiny if you need a telescope to see it better.
Mr. Read: It's actually a lot bigger than the moon. It's just a lot farther away. There it is! Take a look. I'll go in and get us something to munch on. He goes inside.
D.W.: Where is it? All I can see is a small dot that's sort of... Hh! It really is red!
Arthur: Of course it is. That's why they call it the Red Planet.
D.W.: The... the Tibbles were right! I can see the Martian blood! She runs towards the house.
Arthur: Martian blood?
D.W.: From the big lizards who are as tall as skyscrapers, and... and...
Arthur: And never sleep, right? But they have to eat all the time and sometimes they attack each other?
D.W.: Right. How come everyone knows this but me?
Arthur: D.W., that's from a silly movie called „Attack of the Sleepless Martian Dinosaurs“. Buster made me watch it.
D.W.: Tibbles! I should have known better! But wait! If there are no Martian dinosaurs, then who lives... up there?
Arthur: No one knows for sure if anything lives on Mars. But even if there is life, it wouldn't be something as big as a skyscraper. D.W. sees herself standing on Mars in her normal clothes.
D.W.: Hello! Anybody home?? Oh. She hears a chirping sound and notices a mouse-sized green dinosaur biting into her shoe. Hng! She kicks it away. The fantasy ends.
Arthur: So, you still want to go to Mars?
