WildBrain
WildBrain Ltd.(formerly known as DHX Media Ltd. until September 23, 2019) is a Canadian media production and distribution company that is the world's largest independent owner of children's and family entertainment, owning more than 13,000 half-hours of programming such as Peanuts, Teletubbies, Caillou, and Inspector Gadget.
WildBrain was founded in May 2006 as DHX Media, following the merger of two Canadian entertainment companies, Decode Entertainment and Halifax Film Company. The company is headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. They also operate an animation studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, a distribution and corporate office in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and a consumer products division in New York City, New York, USA.
Over the years, DHX Media (as they were known as at the time) had significant growth through acquisitions. One of their most notable acquisitions happened in October 2012, when DHX acquired (and folded) fellow Canadian production and distribution company Cookie Jar Entertainment Inc., which was formerly known as CINAR Productions Inc. from the company's original founding in 1976 until 2004. Cookie Jar co-produced and animated Arthur from its original start in 1996, until 2011, when production moved to fellow producer 9 Story Media Group. CINAR made seasons 1-8 of Arthur, and Cookie Jar made seasons 9-15 of Arthur.
As of 2019, WildBrain no longer lists Arthur on their website or distribution catalogue.
