"The Chips are Down" is the first half of the 5th episode of season 3 of the animated children's series Arthur. It originally aired on November 2nd, 1998.
Summary
Arthur and Buster are sorting potato chips and they find a big green one. D.W. eats the chip, so Arthur and Buster trick her into thinking it's poisonous. Binky eats one, too, and the both of them make the best out of the last days of their lives.

Notes
- In the end, there is a male poodle walking with Prunella and Rubella's mother Wanda as they all leave, although it is unknown to whether or not he is Prunella and Rubella's father and Wanda's husband, but he has never appeared again since.
- Revenge of the Chip was the next episode about Chips.
