Netkittens are a plush toy, online and offline. They are a parody of Webkinz, which were a popular toy when this episode released.
Emily and D.W. both have one of these virtual pets, with the names Tickely and Prince Shiny. Arthur says that every kid he knows that are D.W.'s age are obsessed with the toys, meaning that they are a fad.
