The Glass bird was owned by Jane Read until Arthur accidentally broke it when he was chasing D.W. and knocked down a lamp, as seen in a flashback. He got her a new one from a store at the Mill Creek Mall called Crystalwerks in Arthur's Perfect Christmas that cost $9.59, but it broke when he attempted to give it to her on Christmas Day.
In "Arthur and Los Vecinos", it is revealed that Mrs. Molina owned a similar bird.
It was also shown in the season 8 episode, "Bleep," when Arthur is telling how he could "bleep" D.W's voice to prevent getting in trouble for breaking the bird.
