D.W.'s Blankie

D.W.'s Blankie is the first half of the 27th episode of season 1 of the animated children's series Arthur. It originally aired on April 28th, 1997.

Plot

D.W. can't find her blankie and asks Arthur to help her. At first Arthur refuses because he wants to go to Buster's and watch Renagain Joe movies but when D.W. says that when she asks Arthur's friends where her blankie is she might also reveal to them that Arthur still sleeps with his teddy bear Stanley Arthur agrees to help her. D.W. first remembers that their Mom had to give some papers to Mrs. Tibble and thinks the Tibble Twins but of stole her blankie while she and her mom weren't looking because Mrs. Tibble threw magic dust on them but when Arthur and D.W. get to the Tibble Twins' house Mrs. Tibble says that the twins are off playing with some girl named Trixie and that she'll let them know that Arthur wants to play with them, not realizing that's not why Arthur was asking to see them. D.W. then says that her blankie must of got lost at the drycleaners because she got hypnotise at the rack of clothes going around and around and while their Mom was paying the machine ordered D.W. to hand over her blankie but when Arthur and D.W. go to the Drycleaners the lady working there thinks that D.W. being hypnotise is the funniest thing she ever heard and she also thinks that D.W. is the cutest little girl she has ever seen. After leaving the drycleaners D.W. thinks that she lost her blankie at the library because it got caught in one of the books that D.W. and Mom were returning and D.W. didn't notice because she was waving goodbye to Miss Turner the librarian but when Arthur and D.W. go to the library Miss Turner checks all the books and doesn't find D.W.'s blankie but tells D.W.to check the card catelogs to find a book about blankies. Also at the library Arthur spots Binky Barnes reading books and doesn't want him to know that he's looking for a blankie and Binky spots Arthur and doesn't want Arthur to know that he's reading books. On the way out Arthur and Binky manage to avoid eachother by not looking at eachother. D.W. then tells Arthur that she must of lost her blankie at the carwash because while she and Mom were going through the carwash D.W. got scared by the giant dry cleaning vacaum coming down and while D.W. had her eyes closed the vacaum must of sucked her blankie out the car window which she left opened but when Arthur and D.W. go to the carwash one of the workers says that the vacaum only sucks up water not blankies but he offers D.W. to keep his polishing cloth to which she turns it down and Arthur replies It's not dirty enough for her. Finally D.W. takes Arthur to the last place that she and Mom went which was at the Sugar Bowl to which D.W. thinks that she left her blankie at the table after she and Mom left after finishing their ice cream. Arthur looks in the window and sees Francine, Muffy, Prunella, and Sue Ellen sitting at a table and doesn't want them to know that he's looking for a blankie but follows D.W. in. When Francine sees Arthur she asks him to sit with them but Arthur says No because he's just there getting D.W. some ice cream and then he looks over and sees D.W. crawling on the floor and tells the girls that she's doing that because she's playing some make believe game to which Prunella says that little kids can be so in-mature. When D.W. comes over and says they don't have what she was looking for Arthur tells the girls that they don't have their favorite flavor and when Francine asks what D.W.'s favorite flavor is Arthur says Chocolate-Vanilla Chip-Blankie. After Arthur and D.W. leave the Sugar Bowl they go to Buster's but Buster tells Arthur that his mom returned the Renagain Joe movies to the movie rental store and Arthur gives D.W. an angry look for making him miss the Renagain Joe movies and help her find her blankie. That night when Dad tucks D.W. into bed she asks him about her blankie to which he says that they'll look for it in the morning and that D.W. should go to bed know. When D.W. falls asleep she begins to dream about her blankie to which Arthur hears her and rushes in to wake her up from her dream. When D.W. tells Arthur that she can't sleep without her blankie Arthur offers her Stanley but she says that it's not the same thing. Then Pal hands D.W. her real blankie which at first she doesn't recognize because it was clean but then she recognizes it and hugs it warmly. Arthur takes Pal and goes to bed but when he tries to fall asleep he notices that Stanley isn't there but then D.W. appears with Stanley which Arthur left in her room and she says to Arthur I'm sure you don't need him. IArthur then chases D.W. trying to get Stanley and screams BRING THAT BACK D.W.! DAD! D.W. GIVE IT BACK TO ME! I'M TELLING DAD D.W.! HEY DAD D.W. WON'T GIVE ME BACK STANLEY!
