Famous portrait of Chopin by Maria Wodzińska

Frédéric Chopin (Frédéric François Chopin, Polish Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin) was a famous and prolific 1800s classical romantic composer. Despite having passed away at the age 39 following complications of a long illness, he composed numerous compositions almost, though not entirely exclusively, for piano. His works included sonatas, waltzes, mazurkas, rondos and nocturnes.

Binky Barnes is an appreciator of Chopin's works and life. In "D.W.'s Library Card," he was to happy to share a Chopin biography with D.W. Read. When, however, Arthur Read approached the two, he covered the book with one depicting a man doing a karate kick and claimed that he was reading to D.W. about "Choppin'," the great biography master. Arthur led D.W. away, over her protests, and he went back to reading the Chopin biography.

In a fantasy sequence of Buster's in "Buster's Sweet Success," a band played Chopin's famous "Funeral March." (Piano Sonata No. 2 - Movement 3 Marche funèbre: Lento)

Trivia

  • Chopin's "Funeral March" has become well-known throughout popular culture, though many are familiar only with the opening notes.
  • The character of Frederic Chopin was used as a playable character for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 title Eternal Sonata, which presented a world that was said to be entirely this composer's dream, which he was having on his deathbed in Paris, France. In the dream, he meets a young girl who is the same age, 14, as his younger sister Emilia was when she died.
