Arthur Wiki:Image policy

When uploading pictures, be sure to use the highest quality available.

This page outlines the rules and guidelines that apply to the use of images on the Arthur Wiki.

Basic rules

• PNG files are the best for screenshots. Unless the image is already saved in another file format. Please note that wikia doesn't accept BMP files.
• Use a {{fairuse}} tag for all images from the show.
• Give a good filename for each image and keep the extension in lowercase format. (Arthur.JPG shouldn't be used)
• Overloading an article with images is not only messy, but is also a copyright violation.
• Make sure the images are related to Arthur. You can have some images for your userpage, but not too many

Screenshots

Screenshots are extremely useful for adding visual appeal to articles. The best screenshots are taken from DVDs, but some users may not own them. So the best alternative is to take stills from a YouTube video of a certain episode. Episodes are frequently uploaded more than once, by multiple users. Do some comparing before you upload to ensure the highest quality picture is available.

Promotional images

There are not many promotional images of Arthur around, nonetheless some do exist. Here is an example of one. These should be added to the relevant episode page. However, these shouldn't be used as a main pictures. That position is reserved for screenshots only.

Character images

For each character, there should be a main picture. The best choice is to use a promo image of them with a white background (See here). If none is available, use a cropped screenshot showing only them.
