Animal References in Arthur

There are tons of animals that live in and around Elwood City. There are mammals like the white-tailed deer, eastern grey squirels, bats, and sunks and then there are reptiles and amphibeans like toads, frogs, and snakes. There are also birds like the historic green-tailed grebe and many more.

But it does not stop there. Their are rare and exotic animals such as tigers, rhinos, and lions. This page is only about animals that are seen in the show.

White-Tailed Deer

The White-Tailed Deer is a peaceful herbavore from teh deer family, mainly found all over North America they are found forests. Their colours allow them to blend into the background of the forest. When startled they will run off. &nbsp Appears in D.W.'s Deer Friend. D.W. spots one of these and gives it the name Walter. She attempted to feed it cereal the next day she saw it.

North American Eastern Grey Squirrel

Squirrel is a common animal that live in cities in the north western and north eastern part of the United states and Canada. They mainly eat seeds, but when food is rare they will eat bugs. The Squirrel is a member of the rodent family. They spend their life in trees. When winter comes they won't hibernate. Instead they will burry their food for latter times and spend the winter tucked away in their borrow, only to wonder out when they are hungry. They appeared in later seasons such as The Squirrels. It lives all over Elwood City, and in The Squirrels the 3rd graders from Lakewood Elementary School were scared by it after they saw a horror movie about them.

Little Brown Bat

It is one of the most common bat species in North America, although it is rarely seen because they are noctunal. They mainly eat insects such as mosquettos and moth. They are able to hunt by using their

Ecolocation witch allows to pick up objects in the dark. And no bats are not blind. It is seen in Bats in the Belfry, when Arthur and D.W. there was a bat living in the the attic of Grandma Thora's house

North American Porcupine

Porcupines are the largest rotten that live in the US and Canada. It is a large spiked cover mammal. It mainly eats plants. It moves extreamly slowly, but once they are climbing they preatty fast. Their quills are its main defence. It does not shot out its quills but instead it turns around swats the advancer with its tail. Each quil covered in small barbs that allows it to embed itself into its victim. The Porcupine made its appearance in the episode The Great Lint Rush in Mr. Toad's home as a body guard.

Striped Skunk

The Skunk is member of the weasel family. It spends its time forageing for grubs that live underground. It is mainly nocturnal. The sent it amits comes from a special sent gland in the animal. It takes more than 24 hours to recover the punchent odor it amits. So they perfer to scare off preditors than spray them with its odor. The Skunk appeared as a prank in Arthur Summer Camp. And Brain menchens that he took a Skunk home in the episode Hide and Snake.

Siberean Tiger

The Siberean Tiger is the largest Cat in the the Cat family. They mainly live in Sibera and northern China. They are type called Hyper Carnivore, that means they eat only meat. They are considered to be endangered

because of loss of habitate, hunting and fears. Their orange coat allows them to b;end into the back ground in the forest. They main prey is deer. They made their appearance in Buster Myth Maker.

Birds

Owl

An owl is seen in Buenas Noches, Vicita. These are also rarely seen in Arthur's hometown because they are

nocturnal animals. They mainly hunt smaller animals such as mice, squireels. They are capable of turning their head 180 degrees. Their large eyes are the reason they can see at night. Owls are famous for their hooting noises, but tend to screech as well. Their talens can crush the bones of its prey.

Green-Tailed Grebe

Green-Tailed Grebe is the Arthur version of Red-tailed Grebe. It is a bird native to Elwood City but it now rarely found. It is considered to be the town bird, because the Elwood City Grebes are named after them. They are a type of water fowl so they live near to water sources like lakes, rivers and ponds. The grebe usely eat water plants.

Eastern Blue Bird

Commonly found in Elwood City. You can often hear them sing songs in the backgrounds of episodes. They

mainly eat insects, and seeds. They usally live in forest but have been found in citis.

Preying Mantis

Preying Mantis is a master hunter. They strike their prey with stelf and accuracy. It is a very helpful insect in gardens. It helps eat invasive insects such as grasshoppers, beetles and other bugs. The Pr

eying Mantis was inspired in a new form of Martial Arts. In was the insect that Sue Ellen Armstrong chose as part of her Bug Week Project in Binky, the Wingman.

Stink Bugs

Stink Bugs are a member of the beetle family. It is called a Stink Bug because when scared they release a pongent odor to make them an unwanted food source. They are commonly found in fallen trees eating helping out with the decompstion of the tree. It was George Lundgren topic during Bug Week in Binky, the Wingman.

Honey Bee

Honey Bees are bugs that live in a social order. Their are drones, guards, workers and the queen. Each rank has its purpose in a Bee Hive. Honey Bees have a great importants in the garden. They pollenate the flowers and helps with reproduction of the plant. It made its appearence in Busters Green Tumb and was Muffy topic during Bug Week in Binky, the Wingman.

Butterfly

Butterfly Often seen in Elwood City. There are many types of butterflies that appear in episodes, such as the Monarch. Binky becomes interested in catching butterflies in Binky, the Wingman, and in Binky Goes Nuts a butterfly lands on him and he thinks that it is an allergic reaction to butterflies, but actually it is an allergy to peanuts.

Marine Life

==Crabs==

Crabs are crustation. It does not have a back bone. You generaly find them on beaches. They eat mainly dead things. It is heavly armoured creature and possed two pairs of Claws. It can crush preditors with its claws. It made its appearace in The Shore Thing.

==Lobster==

Lobsters are a member of the crustation. It is much larger than crabs. They live in the deep parts of the ocean where they scavage dead things. Lobsters, Crabs, shrimp and many cratures that genealy live in the sea are endangered due to pollution, and over fishing. Like Crabs they are heavly armoured and have a strong pair of pincers that can crush a person hand. They were found in a Tital Pool in The Shore Thing.

Hermit Crab

Hermit Crabs are a crustation that live on beaches. They called Hermit

Crabs because they wear a shell. They have no armour so as they grow they have to find new shells. They would rather find empty shells, but if they have to they will kill the creature that is living in the shell and take over. They generally eat dead things. They do have two powerful claws. The bigger they are the stronger they pinch. Their is other ways for Hermit Crab can defend itself. By placing animals like Urchins, Annommy on to their shell protects them from preditors. D.W. made a mistake for a hermit crab for one her sea shells in The Shore Thing.

Sea Stars

Sea Stars or Starfish are not fish they have no backbone. They have suck shine cup like pads on the buttom of the animal. It allows it to move and keep close to the ground during strong ocean currents. They mainly eat

snails, hermit crabs and other bottom dewllers. They made an appearance in The Shore Thing.

Annoanomy

An Annoanomy is a live creature usely found at the buttom of ocean. They mainly

eat fish. It made an appearce in The Shore Thing.

Sea Hair

A boneless vertabrate that lives at the bottom of the ocean. They mainly a scavanger and eat muscels that fall to the bottom of the ocean.
