The Shore Thing/Transcript
Arthur Read: Looking forward to something neat is always fun, especially when you end up with something that's better than what you expected. Like when Brain and I had to make dessert for a class party.
The Brain: These will be the best chocolate-banana splits ever!
Arthur: Oh, no. The ice cream melted. Now what do we do?
The Brain: Chocolate-banana shakes! What else?
Arthur: (V.O.) Or Buster's best Christmas ever.
Young Buster: Wow! Thanks, Santa! (his dad removes the white beard) Daddy! You made it home for Christmas!
Arthur: (V.O.) Or when Pal finally got his new chew-toy but had more fun with the shopping bag.
(Back to the present)
Binky Barnes: Hey! I got something!
Arthur: Wow, Binky! Real gold!
Binky: Who needs that? I found a quarter.
Arthur: See? You just never know.
(Title card)
Buster: (V.O.) The Shore Thing!
Pal: (barks)
Arthur: Hi!
(Back to the story)
Arthur: (pretending to be a shark) Grrr! Gotcha!
David Read: Arthur, what's this all about?
Arthur: What else? Aqualand.
David Read: Aqua... what?
D.W. Read: Aqualand. Come look!
Arthur: Aren't you coming?
David Read: I have to get this in the oven, Arthur.
Arthur: Dad, Aqualand! TV, Now!
D.W.: (with Arthur watching an Aqualand commercial on TV) See, Dad? That's Aqualand.
Aqualand Announcer: Fish Scallion, The Polar Coaster, Squid Scrambler, Deluxe Great White Sharkade, is Aqualand!
D.W.: (with Arthur Read) Aqualand! Can we go?
Arthur: Yeah, the rides are cool.
D.W. And they have the best souvenirs!
David Read: But it looks like just another amusement park.
Arthur: But it's not it's...
David Read: I know, I know, Aqualand. I remember a place near the ocean when I was a boy and I'll bet it was lot more fun than..
Arthur & D.W.: Aqualand?
David Read: Yes. In fact. I'll show you this weekend.
D.W.: A place more fun than Aqualand?
(At the Elwood City Public Pool with Arthur and his friends in there)
Binky Barnes: Impossible! Nothing can be more fun than Aqualand.
Buster Baxter: Yeah, Binky's right. I hear the Polar Coaster is so cool and they have to defrost it!
Arthur: That's it!
Buster: What's it?
Arthur: My dad's home movies. They have scenes of an old park by the beach.
(Arthur imagines with his parents and sister D.W. watching a home movie of an old carnival park)
Arthur: (V.O.) And, man, it have everything! Roller coasters, a fun house, even a carousel. It looks so neat!
(Back to the present)
Arthur: I think it's called Marine World. And... hey, maybe is better than Aqualand!
Buster: Maybe they have ride that goes 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Just like a Jules Verne's story!
(Buster imagines he's in the big submarine underwater with the fish)
Buster: How's the water, Captain Nemo?
(Captain Nemo's putting his thumbs up.)
(Back to the present)
Sue Ellen Armstrong: Or a Hawaiian Island Surf's Up Simulator.
(Sue Ellen imagines surfing on the Wave Tank with her surfboard and Hawaiian music playing)
Sue Ellen: Hang ten, dudes!
