While Jane and David Read are painting the house, Arthur and D.W. go to spend the week at Grandpa Dave's house. When they get there, they notice it is really old and run down. Later on, the convince the stubborn Grandpa Dave to fix the house, with their help of course. The fix the hen house, but leave before they can start working on the main house. One of Dave's friends, however, offers help, and he finally gets to work with Dave on the house.
