Hal is R4's robotic pet dog. He/it appeared in the opening of "Background Blues" where he/it runs up to R4 and jumps into his lap, but leaves soon afterwards.
Trivia
- His name is based off "Pal", but may also be a reference to the HAL 9000 from Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey series.
