John Robert Lewis (born February 21, 1940 – July 17, 2020) was an American politician and a prominent civil rights leader. He voiced himself in the Arthur episode, "Arthur Takes a Stand".[1]

In 2020, PBS released a short, "Arthur on Racism: Talk, Listen, and Act", in memory of John Lewis a few weeks after he died. The ending shows John Lewis' in-universe counterpart hugging Mrs. MacGrady, a scene taken from "Arthur Takes a Stand" but with an included posthumous message.
