The Big Dig is the second half of the 9th episode of Season 5 of Arthur. It first aired on October 30th, 2000, along with "Just Desserts."
Summary
Arthur and D.W. don't want to spend time with Grandpa Dave because all he does is play checkers and sleep. He tells them about a buried family treasure, but the two don't want to wait up for him so they take the map and look for the treasure themselves.
Plot
Grandpa dave is sleeping and Arthur and DW are getting upset that they aern't having fun. When he wakes up he tells them about a treasure aside from playing chess. A pirate with bad breath was the most firece pirate to sail the seven seas but Arthur says there are eleven seas. Arthur takes the map while Grandpa Dave is asleep and covinces D.W. to take an oath; which she refuses. They find the treasure shoulld be by the tree house but they can't find it. Grandpa Dave shows and tells them there was no treasure.
